Arabian Oryx and Falcon

Naming

Arabian Oryx

The Arabian Oryx became extinct in the early 1960’s and although its natural range is not clear, it was probably found in and around the Liwa as well as the mountain plains. It was the largest of the Arabian Antelope and can survive in areas without trees or standing water.

In the Arabian Oryx class, we believe that playing is learning and learning is playing.

The journey is the destination.

Falcon

The Falcon is approximately 9kg and has a life span of 9 years. They are small birds of prey and are related to the hawk and eagle. They have pointed wings and long tails.

A holistic approach to teaching is followed in the Falcon class and when this is put into practice, it helps to develop creative skills and has also been an effective way of mind development for the child.

Top Row:

Hello, my name is Nuket and I am from Turkey. I moved to Dubai 8 years ago and I have been working at TCG since it opened. I graduated from Istanbul University as a Mathematician and I have a teaching certificate from Marmara University in Istanbul. This year, I will be working with Miss Reshma in Falcon Class. I am also the Math Coordinator for TCG (Green Community and Jumeira). In Istanbul, I worked for 10 years in high schools as a Math teacher. TCG has given me the opportunity to teach Math to young children and I am writing a book about how to teach Math to little ones in a fun way!!

Hi. My name is Tanja and I am in my second year at TCG as the PS1 German teacher. The most amazing experience I discovered last year was how fast children can pick up one or even two new languages (and they don't even realise they are learning!). I speak German and English as well as some French but I would have been very happy if I had the opportunity, like our children here, to learn different languages at this young age. Before coming to Dubai in March 2008, I spent 6 years teaching children with learning difficulties and behavioural issues in Germany.

Bottom Row:

Hello, I'm Genia and I joined the Arabian Oryx class as the teaching assistant at the end of the last school year. I have been living in Dubai, with my family, for one year now. I am from Germany, where I was self-employed for the past few years. My passion is reaidng books and, of course, my family! Like Tanja, I'm impressed with what children can acheive and learn at this young age. it is totally different to what chiildren do in a German Kindergarten.

I am Reshma. I am Indian although I was born and educated in Bahrain. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Science. I continued my Education and obtained a Diploma in TESOL. I am married and have a 9 year old daughter. Subsequently, I moved to Dubai and worked as a teacher. To date, I have eight years of teaching of which five have been here, at TCG. My hobbies are reading books, art and cooking. It has been a pleasure to be instrumental to the development of the children at TCG.
